Microsoft's Windows 11 goes public | these are the main changes

Microsoft is preparing to release Windows 11, its new version of the Windows operating system, this week, after announcing the end of Windows 10 in 2025.

On Thursday, June 24, Microsoft will unveil a new version of Windows which Microsoft has dubbed the "biggest update to the Windows operating system ever" at a special event. Millions of people around the world will be able to watch the event live on Microsoft's YouTube channel.

Before the new version of Windows was released, some of its features were leaked. Several high-tech technology websites have revealed details about Windows 11, making it almost obvious what users will find new in Windows 11.

Some websites even have the leaked version of Windows 11 available for download. Here are some key differences between Windows 11 and Windows 10:

Changes to the Start menu

The start menu on a computer serves as a central hub for all Windows users. In the new operating system, Microsoft has made some changes to the Start menu.

The Start menu is moved from the left corner of the computer screen to the center with the taskbar. Users will, however, be able to move the start menu to the left side.

A list of recently added and most-used apps will be displayed to users. Shortcuts for apps pinned to the Start menu are also visible. Similarly, Microsoft is bringing startup Jingle after Windows 7 for the first time. The startup sound and widgets have also been modified.

Logo changes

All of the icons in Windows 11 have been redesigned, giving the operating system a fresh new look. Icons are made more colorful. The existing Windows logo has undergone some changes.

Changes to the maximize button

When users click the maximize button in Windows 11, they will also see the Windows lock option. Within the Maximize icon, you'll also be able to open and adjust multiple windows side by side on the desktop.

Xbox's new app

A new Xbox app for Windows 11 will provide users with direct access to GamePass and other Xbox social features.

By changing the existing sharp corners of the Windows screen, the sharp edge of the screen has been rounded in Windows 11.
Users of Windows 10 will also get the Windows 11 update for free.
Microsoft claims that Windows 11 will be the most significant update to the company's operating system to date.
