Legend playback singer Kishore Kumar is credited for taking the Indian music industry to the top. He ruled the industry for three decades. Such was his popularity that he received the Filmfare Award for Best Playback Singer for a record 8 times. The Government of India also issued postage stamps in honor of Kishore Kumar twice in 2003 and 2016. Born on August 4, 1929, in a Bengali family, in Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh, Kishore Kumar's childhood name was Abhash Kumar Ganguly. Kishore Kumar's father was a lawyer and his elder brother Ashok Kumar was a big actor in Bollywood films. After graduating from Indore, Kishore Kumar reached Mumbai and changed his name to work in films. His first job was to sing the chorus in the production house Bombay Talkies.


Khemchandra Prakash had given the first opportunity – 

Ashok Kumar, brother of Kishore Kumar used to act in Bombay Talkies films. Music director Khemchand Prakash gave Kishore Kumar a chance to sing for the first time in the 1948 film Ziddi. Kishore Kumar sang the song 'Marne Ki Duain Kyun Mangu'. During this, Kishore Kumar also got a chance to act in many films. But, Kishore Kumar later became popular as a playback singer.


'Roop Tera Mastana' gained popularity - 

Kishore Kumar sang the song 'Roop Tera Mastana' from the 1970 film Aradhana. This song went on the lips of the people. For this, he received the Filmfare Award for Best Playback Singer for the first time. Kishore Kumar won the Filmfare Award for Best Playback Singer 8 times, which is still a record. Kishore Kumar is also the singer who has received the maximum number of nominations 28 times.

Four Marriages of Kishore Kumar- 

Kishore Kumar did 4 marriages in his life. He first married Bengali actress Ruma Guha Thakurta at the age of 21. This marriage lasted 8. After this, Kishore Kumar married the famous actress Madhubala in 1960. Madhubala passed away in 1969. Kishore Kumar married actress Yogita Bali for the third time in 1976. But this marriage lasted only 2 years. Kishore Kumar married actress Leena Chandravarkar for the fourth time in 1980. The relationship remained unbroken till the death of Kishore Kumar on 13 October 1987.
