Difference Between HTTP and HTTPS
Whatever work we do in our life, we take care of our safety. Like we use helmets while driving for our safety. Money in banks Keep our money safe by depositing, protect mobile and laptop from a virus we using antivirus, in the same way when we search any information from the browser using the internet or do online transaction then our device And a secure link exists between the server, which keeps our data safe from the eyes of a hacker, the name of that link is HTTPS. We all use the internet every day and you must have also seen that Http or Https is written before the domain address of any website. Have you ever wondered what it means and why it is used? In today's post, we will give you information about this topic, where we will tell you what is Http and Https and the difference between these two.
To begin, let's define HTTP
The full name of HTTP is HyperText Transfer Protocol, it is a type of network
protocol used in the worldwide web. Here there is a set of protocol rules
which acts as a communication channel between the browser and the server and controls the work of data transfer between the two.
When we write the domain name of anyone website or blog on the address bar of the web browser like we wrote Google.com here and as soon as we press enter then automatically with "http://" on the web address of the browser The domain name is written http://Google.com, after which our ISP allows the browser to connect with HTTP and the server in which the hosting of that domain name resides by connecting the HTTP browser to that server. All the data related to the name is displayed on the user's screen. All the files are stored in the server and according to the request of the client, the server responds to the client. Here our web browser works like a client. When there is any web browser and the server, data transfer between them has to follow some rules, and these rules are determined by the HTTP protocol.
HTTP uses port 80 of TCP Protocol so that it can easily send data packets on the web and receive. Because HTTP uses port 80, its security is very low, so that any person can easily break the connection between the client and the server and steal the data. But this does not mean that everyone, can break it. It is necessary to have a good knowledge of computer software to break it. If you read an article on a website or download songs from anywhere, then even if such information is in the hands of a hacker, you will not be harmed by it,
but if it is about email accounts, net banking, and online transactions, in which Id and Password are used. So that sensitive information that should be in the hands of a hacker may be huge losses.
HTTPS stands for HyperText Transfer Protocol Secured. Https also does all the same things that HTTP does but there is a strong security feature in HTTPS protocol. HTTPS is a secure version of HTTP because it uses SSL (Secure Socket Layer) whose job is to transfer data between browser and server in encrypted form. SSL is based on the RSA algorithm where a public key and a private key are used in SSL. The information is encrypted using the public key, and it is decrypted using the private key. In HTTPS connection, all the data is encrypted by cryptography, i.e. converted into a difficult decode format without the decryption key. Similarly, the sensitive data or information being transferred is protected. Data from Https remains very secure because it is in encrypted form which becomes difficult to hack. Even if a hacker hacks the information, it will remain in encrypted form to bring that data to his work, the hacker will have to do data decryption, which is a bit difficult task. This is one reason why all the websites for money transfer or online transactions use HTTPS connections so that the users’ data is safe.
You must have seen "HTTP://" at the beginning of the URL of a website, it means that your data is secured through SSL. In front of such a URL, a green lock icon appears as secure as written. And now we know what the distinction between HTTP and HTTPS is.
HTTP is a protocol on which users' data and information goes in the form of hypertext
That is, it goes in plain text which can be hacked while Https is secure encrypted i.e. all data transfer between your browser and website. As a result, hackers are unable to access data.
HTTP URLs begin with "http://" and HTTPS URLs begin with "https://."
HTTP Proxy server supports HTTP connection Port 80 while HTTPS Proxy server supports SSL connection Port 443. Therefore HTTPS remains more secure than HTTP.
Online banking and online shopping through HTTP are not secure whereas HTTPS is often used to protect transactions in online transactions.
HTTP does not require any certificate so it is free It is automatically added to all blogs or websites, but HTTPS is a paid service that requires an SSL certificate to use. Due to the SSL certificate, a lot of traffic also comes to the website and blog.
We would like to tell you that anytime you want to enter your details like Email Id and Password in any such websites Or do not enter the details of Credit / Debit card websites which have the only HTTP in front of them because if you do this then you can very easily get hacked by a hacker who can steal your details. So always work on the internet with caution and keep yourself safe. Hope you have come to know about what is HTTP and HTTPS.
And we also hope that now whatever website you surf, you will be able to understand the importance of HTTP and HTTPS next to it and know whether you have to enter your details in that website or not. It has always been my goal for you to be able to get all of the information you need on a given topic from our articles, through our articles so you don't have to go anywhere else.
